Geovane- Soil Shear Strength Tester
 | Geovane Soil Shear Strength Tester is a hand held instrument used for the determination of soil shear strength. The tester provides a soil shear strength reading in kPa and Nm. |
Simple to use The 19mm vane blade can measure soil shear strength from 0 to approximately 200 kPa and the 33mm vane blade can measure from 0 to approximately 40kPa. Screw a 19mm or 33mm vane blade into the base of the Geovane and push the vane blade into the soil. Simply rotate the Geovane at a rate of 1 revolution per minute and take a reading off the face when the soil fails. A pointer on the face stays in place when failure occurs so all you have to do is look up the reading from the face on the supplied calibration chart to get your reading in kPa or Nm. |
Accessories The Geovane is available as just a torque head or as a packaged kit with 19mm vane blade, spanners and a heavy duty, long lasting canvas carrybag or plastic carry case. Extension rods are also available in 300mm, 500mm and 1000mm lengths along with joining adapters and 33mm vane blades. |
Calibration and Servicing The Geovane should be serviced and calibrated annually. |
